PHOTOGRAPHY in the 1960's
Back in those days the BriSCA track photographers did not have the versatile digital camera's now available.
They had 35mm film camera's and used mainly Black & White film. Colour at that time was an expensive option and generally required sending the film to be processed professionally. Low light, cloudy days and night meetings were not the best condition for good pictures.
In the 1960's photography was basically a minority hobby to most, used only while on holiday or at family get togethers. Today almost everybody on the planet seems to have a cell phone with a built in camera and without any special photographic skills..can produce a crystal clear and sharp image - even in poor light conditions.
BriSCA track photographers produced quality photographs with their 35mm camera equipment and in all weather conditions.
Today...these pictures are collectors items from the years when some of the greatest drivers ever seen on a BriSCA stock car oval circuit
were basically in their teens and twenties - Willie, Wilf, Bert and Arnie and a few being the exception! Those seeing Golden Oldie 55 Bert Finnikin may not have thought that decades later, a third generation Finnikin is out there among the best or that a new driver, a "quiet and shy" guy appearing in his white top - would become the legendary 212 Frankie Wainman.
