COPYRIGHT NOTICE.

COPYRIGHT  is claimed by A.B.Whittam who - under the COPYRIGHT, DESIGNS AND PATENTS ACT 1988
( Artistic Works et al ) asserts his right to be identified as the sole author /creator of any and all original 35mm film and digitally enhanced reproduction photo images used and sold with restrictions and displayed on this website.

During the mid 1960's - 1970's  A.B. Whittam was an authorised photographer with selling rights at  BriSCA F1 oval racing events at Nelson, Rochdale, White City, Stoke, Coventry, Leicester, and Long Eaton.
Authorised access to other circuits in field and pit areas was courtesy of the track owner or event promoters and included New Brighton ( F2 and others ) Brafield and Wembley.

It is acknowledged that at circuits with selling rights, literally thousands of photographs were sold to drivers and fans.
Each photograph carried a copyright notice stamped on the back which indicated that the picture could not be reproduced without permission.
In those pre-digital years copyright was not a major issue with fans - but was needed to warn publishers of magazines, newspapers and in certain instances, promoters at stadia not used by A.B.Whittam.
It is accepted that many fans and fan club organizers of drivers may have used copied/reproduced photographs to promote their favoured driver - this was at that time not an issue.

In this modern Internet age, copyright protection is more of an issue - especially as the content of Mr Whittams archive are now considered memorabilia and as such are a collector's item and an historic record of the period.

We therefore advise that any circuit or event prompters, website owners or individuals using any image(s) produced by A. B. Whittam in any way- without permission - for financial gain, - will be asked to remove images or negotiate reproduction fee's.
We also reserve the right to pursue payment and all incurred costs from those who have infringed copyrighted material.

Fan Clubs and Fan magazines, fund raising for worthy causes, will - on request - be given permission and images from the archive F.O.C.

"Social" websites using A.B. Whittam images submitted  by fans or drivers for archival and historic purposes will  - on request - be given a conditional free permission, That condition is the adding of a  BRISCA Media "watermark".   If needed our staff can do this as a courtesy.

The above notice is subject to change without warning to address any situation not previously considered or to counter any avoidance.

We regret what some may consider to be draconian measures - however like all rules and regulations, they only affect those seek to avoid their responsibilities and  / or make profit from the work and efforts of others.

BRISCA Media and A. B. Whittam, will be pleased to supply images, DVD disk presentations or illustrated articles FOC, on request giving details.
